Welcome. The Center for World Music is a nonprofit organization whose purpose is to foster awareness and understanding of the world's performing arts traditions through study abroad programs, teaching, and performance. Internships information: johnrgabriel@gmail.com.

The Center sponsors exciting programs abroad opportunities in diverse areas of the world: hands-on music and dance workshops and cultural tours to such destinations as Bali, India, Ghana, Turkey, China, Mexico, and Peru.

In 1999 the Center created a unique world music in the schools program in San Diego city and county. For its schools program, the Center currently maintains a roster of 20 native and native-trained artist-teachers and 15 ensembles-in-residence.

The Center presents an annual public concert series as well as several performing arts festivals of traditional music and dance from around the world, featuring distinguished San Diego artists, visiting international artists, and artist-teachers in residence from Asia, Africa, Latin America, and Europe.
The Center for World Music receives support from the National Endowment
for the Arts, the California Arts Council, the County of San Diego, the City of San Diego Commission for Arts and Culture, and the PARSA Community Foundation. Recent Center projects have also been supported by the Asian Cultural
Council and The Parker Foundation.
